The Department of Handlooms and Textiles is concerned with Handlooms, Powerlooms in the Co-operative and decentralized sector and setting up of Apparel and Textile Parks in the Garment sector. The erstwhile Andhra Pradesh government had set up an Apparel Export Park at Gundlapochampally.

The Apparel Export Park is spread across 174.268acres of land and was opened for the sole purpose of promoting and boosting garment and apparel manufacturing in order to help desiring and deserving entrepreneurs/organisations to establish, build and grow their respective garment making businesses. The  park is well connected to  all cities by Rail, Road and  Air  . The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at  Hyderabad , is about 58km from the park . The nearest Railway station  is located at Gundlapochampally and the nearest major rail junction is located at  Secunderabad which is 21 km away from the park. Being well connected in terms  of rail, road and air the apparel park is accessible for transportation of freight and  personnel. The park is situated at a mean sea level of 547 meters and with the  temperatures around 290 C & humidity around 60 the park has excellent environmental factors required for garment manufacturing. The park is surrounded by villages namely; Gundlapochampalle, Maisammaguda, MaisammaGudem, Dullapally, BahadurpallyandLaxmi Nagar which can be considered as the catchment areas for human resources.

The park has copious supply of water for using in garment manufacturing as well as for consumption by the workers and staff within the park. The park also provides uninterrupted power supply to the garment units. The park has good sewerage system and has ample space for greenery. The park is well protected by a well-managed security system and houses a fire station & an extension counter for a bank with ATMs. To safeguard the young children of working women and to enable uninterrupted work on the shop floor, a well-maintained Day Care centre is available as well.

A well-equipped training centre, a Design studio, Crafts & Handicrafts establishment in areas of Stone, Wood & fabric, housing for craftsmen, Craft exhibition and display centre, State of art Fashion Resource library, handicrafts archival house and Food Court are envisaged in a 23-acre land with the park.
